Kanu has been playing through the pain barrier to help our challenge for honours this season. The Nigerian striker has been suffering with a small knee problem since the African Nations Cup in January. But he has refused to let the injury stop him from playing his part in our quest for silverware in the two major domestic competitions.
"Before the African Nations Cup he was always in the team, but since he came back he has had small niggles with his knee," revealed manager Arsene Wenger. "I am not resting him, but I am using his less. I know that he cannot give his best at the moment, but he has still been tremendous for the team. He could have come to me and said that he cannot run, but he has been playing because he wants to help us. At the beginning of the season, he knew that he might be the number five striker, but he stayed here and worked really hard to be the number one or two. He's got a tremendous attitude and he has played a big part in the team this season, even in recent weeks when he has not been 100 per cent fit."
