Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on talented pair Philippe Senderos and Michal Papadopulos, saying the teenage duo could play a key part for The Gunners this term.
Such is the regard the pair are held in at Highbury, Wenger travelled to Barnet to see them in action for the reserves on Monday evening.
Senderos is finally fit again following a back injury, while Papadopulos, cleared to play after a knee problem, was making his Arsenal reserve debut following his loan arrival from Banik Ostrava.
Both played 45 minutes, with Papadopulos scoring and Senderos looking assured at the back.
Wenger was clearly pleased, as he told the club's website: "Senderos has been out for five months. We were really concerned because he had a big problem. So it is good to see him back.
"That goes for Papadopulos as well. We have taken him [on loan] because he is very committed and very good in air. We have seen that tonight (Monday) even if he is still short of fitness.
"They look a little bit rusty but two or three games will do them good. I feel they could be a force for us in the second part of the season."
