Boavista are on the verge of selling goalkeeper Ricardo according to various reports out of Portugal. The only problem is that they have currently received several offers. According to club president Joao Loureiro, Arsenal, Nantes, Espanyol and Benfica are among the clubs pursuing the highly rated keeper.
Benfica nearly came to terms with Boavista for the goalkeeper in July but could not agree to terms with the player. Manchester United was also interested in the Portuguese international's services until he stated that he would not move abroad to be a backup.
Arsenal are actively seeking a long-term replacement for David Seaman and Ricardo would be the perfect fit. He has been one of the few bright spots for Boavista this season. The club is struggling but their keeper has continued his strong play and is one of the reasons they are still in contention for the UEFA Cup.
Ricardo is regarded by many as the best goalkeeper in Portugal and will undoubtedly be Portugal's number one keeper in years to come. Ricardo has backstopped Boavista to a league title and was Portugal's number one choice during World Cup qualifying. Ricardo's move away from Boavista is simply a matter of time.
