Arsenal have been linked with a move for Lokomotivi Tbilisi's highly-rated goalkeeper Giorgi Lomaia. The 22-year-old has established himself as one of the best keepers in Georgia and has won four caps for the national team, stirring Arsene Wenger's interest as he looks to find an eventual replacement for veteran David Seaman.
Lomaia, who is currently with the Lokomotivi squad at a training camp, admitted he is flattered by the rumours. He said: "The club have told me about Arsenal's interest in me so I have a lot of expectations. Arsenal are a superb club and playing there would be a big achievement for me."
Lokomotivi transfers manager Gocha Tamazashvili has sent the player's details to Highbury, although he thinks that obtaining a work permit may be tricky.
"Several days ago, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger received Lomaia's CV and a video of him playing. I know that Wenger has a good impression of him," he said. "The problem which can prevent the transfer may be the fact that Lomaia has not played in 75% of the national team's games, meaning that he will struggle to get a British work permit. He has been the national Under-21 keeper for a long time and now he is in the senior squad it might not be a problem."
