Preston want to sign Arsenal striker Graham Barrett to further bolster their strike force.
Preston boss Craig Brown, who has lost the injured Ricardo Fuller for the rest of the season, bought Celtic forward Simon Lynch last week.
But he also wants to add Barrett to his squad.
North End have confirmed that they have agreed a deal with Arsenal for the 21-year-old Republic of Ireland international.
A move will now depend on Barrett, who is currently on loan at Brighton.
